چسلاو میلوش در سال 1911 در Szetejnie، لیتوانی به دنیا آمد. با جنبش مقاومت لهستان در ورشو همکاری کرد جنگ جهانی دوم و پس از آن به عنوان فرهنگی در پاریس مستقر شد وابسته از لهستان او در سال 1951 به فرانسه فرار کرد و در سال 1960 او سمتی را در دانشگاه کالیفرنیا در برکلی پذیرفت. او بود در سال 1980 برنده جایزه نوبل ادبیات شد و یکی از اعضای آن است آکادمی آمریکا و موسسه هنر و ادبیات.
Czeslaw Milosz was born in Szetejnie, Lithuania, in 1911. He worked with the Polish Resistance movement in Warsaw during World War II, after which he was stationed in Paris as a cultural attache from Poland. He defected to France in 1951, and in 1960 he accepted a position at the University of California at Berkeley. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature in 1980, and is a member of the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters.
