Kris Dillard How To Experience Instantaneous Peace Of Mind by Kris Dillard Can we start by agreeing that what everyone on the planet is ULTIMATELY trying to “get“ -- through more possessions, better income, more fulfilling relationships, perfect health, etc. -- is peace of mind with no agitation? It is self-obvious when you stop to consider it, isn’t it? So the next question that arises is this: “Why not go directly into the state of peace of mind with no agitation regardless of what you have or don’t have?“ That would make sense, right? OK, then we have to ask ourselves: “How do we go directly into peace of mind at will, right here, right now?“ That is a very important question we can ask ourselves in life - after all, we have just concluded that we will NEVER be completely happy nor totally fulfilled (no matter how good our life is) UNLESS we have complete peace of mind with no agitation. So far, so good, right? Now, imagine that through a simple process of self-questioning it were possible for you to free yourself from all mind-agitation. Imagine that through this same process it were possible to very quickly find yourself (your whole-being) simply resting in a peaceful, comfortable state -- no matter what stresses and frustrations you’d previously been feeling. How is that possible? I’m going to tell you. More than that, I’m going to allow you to prove it to yourself. First though, it is important for you to recognise that it is only ever your OWN THINKING that is obscuring your innate peace of mind. That’s right. You are ALREADY completely peaceful right now. Right in the ever-present now (time itself is also just a fabrication of your own thought!). An analogy to explain: Imagine your peace of mind is the Sun. And imagine your thoughts are the clouds in the sky. The Sun (your peace of mind) always exists. The only reason you sometimes can’t see the Sun (are not aware of it) is because the clouds obscure it from your awareness. So the bottom line point is this: No matter how bad things are in your life, no matter how messed up you think you are psychologically, you ALWAYS are in a perfect state of peace “underneath“ your OWN THINKING. Now, let’s get “underneath“ your OWN THINKING. It’s easy. Effortless even. See whenever you are feeling uncomfortable simply STOP yourself for a moment and notice what thought is causing you to feel uncomfortable? Let’s say you’re feeling uncomfortable and you don’t know why particularly - well the thought you may notice could be as simple as: “I don’t like feeling this uncomfortable feeling.“ Or let’s say you’re struggling with a project and the thought that arises is: “There’s not enough time to get this work done and it’s making me feel stressed.“ It doesn’t much matter what thought arises (whatever thought arises is the right thought for you in that moment). What next? Well, all you “do“ is simply recognise that whatever thought arises is just a thought and proceed to mentally ask yourself this ONE QUESTION: “WHERE DOES THAT THOUGHT COME FROM?“ Don’t try and mentally come up with an answer. Just notice whatever response “organically“ (naturally) arises within you. You may notice you get this answer: “That thought is coming from my mind.“ Now, whatever answer arises within you (and this is important) NOTICE that the answer is just another thought. Then, gently (and slowly) ask yourself the ONE QUESTION again: “WHERE DOES THAT THOUGHT COME FROM?“ Then just notice whatever response arises within you - if any. Don’t try and force an answer. You may get the answer: “That thought comes from me.“ To which you will now recognise that answer is just another thought and you will then gently (and slowly) ask yourself the ONE QUESTION: “WHERE DOES THAT THOUGHT COME FROM?“ Again, just notice whatever response arises within you. What you will very quickly experience is whatever answer you get -- if any -- is ALWAYS just another thought. Until you run-out of thoughts -- and you mind goes peacefully quiet. That’s right - through the questioning process of asking where the thinking comes from -- what you will very quickly experience is you cannot come up with any more answers (your mind won’t be able to “grip onto“ any answer without you instantly realising that each answer is just another thought) and you’ll effortlessly drop into a clear, peaceful, silent mind. Your mind will go completely quiet. You will “look out at the world“ but you will have no thoughts or judgement about the world “out there“. And in that state of pure present moment awareness -- free from thinking -- you will find that you are resting in a peaceful state. Also: from that place of peace you will realize that even the past and the future are just another thought. The past and the future do NOT exist -- only your THINKING about the past and the future exist (all time is an illusion, only that which exists now, exists). (By the way: Everyone seems to feel that the world is speeding up. Not true. Only the speed at which your thoughts jump from one thing you should be doing to another thing you should be doing are speeding up. And that creates the feeling that the world is speeding up. There is no time to speed up. Only thoughts speed up). Another thing: No problem can exist in a quiet mind. No fear, worry or anxiety can exist in a quiet mind, either. See: When you hear nothing (in terms of “self-talk“) you fear nothing. But please don’t believe me. I don’t want you to believe anything written here. I merely invite you to discover for yourself what these words are pointing to. Why not mentally keep the ONE QUESTION at the forefront of your mind and see how much more relaxed you feel after just 3 days. Then you can even “drop“ the ONE QUESTION - as you’ll naturally find yourself living the ONE QUESTION in your moment-to-moment awareness. That’s when you’ll discover that when you are living life from a clear, peaceful mind “rooted“ only in present moment awareness -- all your conscious thinking (yes, you’ll still think; but your thinking will be “fresh“!) will be based on clear decisions that come from your inner-knowingness. You’ll just know the right choices to make and action to take as you go about your day. And your day-to-day life will unfold in the most satisfactory way for you with the right results and solutions naturally taking care of themselves. You’ll get a sense of being “carried“ to do the right things, in the right way at the right time. And the cherry on the cake? Well, the more you live from present moment awareness (i.e., with a clear peaceful mind uncluttered from agitated thought) you’ll naturally find yourself achieving and getting the things you thought would be required to make you happy and fulfilled in the first place. But don’t take my word for it. Give it a try. Lester Levenson
