The health system is now the largest service industry in most Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) countries. This volume tells many stories concerning changes in health status and health systems across OECD countries. It covers life expectancy, health care resources, health system activities, health care financing and health expenditure. At the same time, it provides striking evidence of the sheer size of the variations across the countries in most indicators of health system resources, activity and expenditure, as reported at the OECD. This book poses questions and challenges to all health policy experts, managers and statisticians, and presents an easily accessible form some of the key indicators on health. It brings out variations and trends in the key indicators of health status, health care resources, health care utilization and health expenditure across the OECD area.
