قبل از اینکه بشریت مسئله پسا-در پساانسان را از جایگاه اجدادی مطرح کند. گمانه زنی در مورد اینکه چه کسی یا چه چیزی بعد از انسان می آید، ناگزیر ما را به همان ابتدا بازمی گرداند. پیش از انسانیت در این زمینه دو معنا به خود می گیرد: 1) قبل از اینکه ما ظاهراً انسان شویم چه اتفاقی افتاده است؟ - که به خوانشی انتقادی از انسان‌شناسی دیرینه و نیز روایت‌های تکاملی انسان‌سازی ترجمه می‌شود. 2) زندگی در پایان یک مفهوم خاص (انسان گرایانه، انسان محور) از انسانیت، چه وظایفی پیش روی ما قرار دارد؟ - که خوانشی انتقادی از آنتروپوسن و روایت‌های کنونی زمین‌شناسی را برمی‌انگیزد. به عبارت دیگر، پیش از بشریت به بررسی مفهوم‌سازی انسانیت می‌پردازد و می‌پرسد آیا ما تا به حال انسان بوده‌ایم و اگر نه، چه می‌توانستیم، یا شاید چه می‌بودیم؟

Before Humanitytakes up the question of the post- in the posthuman from the position of ancestrality. Speculating about who or what comes after the human inevitably throws us back to our very beginnings. The before in Before Humanityin this context takes on two meanings: 1) what happened before we apparently became human? - which translates into a critical reading of paleo-anthropology, as well as evolutionary narratives of hominization; 2) living through the end of a certain (humanist, anthropocentric) notion of humanity, what tasks lie before us? - which provokes a critical reading of the Anthropocene and current narratives of geologization.In other words, Before Humanityinvestigates conceptualizations of humanity and asks whether we have ever been human and if not, what could, or maybe what should we have been?
