The main explicatory method is the ‘whole-sentence definition’ (85 %); a minority of entries use graphic expressions (3.5%), English translations (9.5%) and usage explanations (2% ). The whole-sentence definition means to place the word to be defined in a typical sentence to allow the readers to understand the meaning through context.
Example sentences are the key component main part of each entry, which contains 3–8 illustrative whole sentences.
There is an entry in the dictionary for every word used in it. Limiting vocabulary to defined words offers a considerable benefits to elementary learners.
