The first part of the book presents the spontaneous discussion and exchange of information of the conference. It includes summaries of the major types of assays and the factors produced by lymphocytes upon stimulation, and the critical discussion of the present methods, their applicability and limitations, and the prospects and needs for improved methodology. The second section contains detailed descriptions and protocols for performing 38 of the major assays developed and used throughout the world for the study of cell-mediated immunity in-vitro.. This book will be of value to research workers in immunology, organ transplantation and tissue typing, virology, oncology, microbiology, and experimental pathology, and to medicinal and pharmaceutical chemists. It will be especially relevant for those engaged in clinical studies of immunity in cancer patients and of patients with immunological deficiency syndromes
