Electromagnetic Cascade and Chemistry of Exotic Atoms

این کارگاه برای گرد هم آوردن یکبار دیگر دانشمندان حوزه نسبتاً ناهمگن اتم های عجیب و غریب سازماندهی شد. در حال حاضر موضوع اصلی این رشته به نظر می رسد مطالعه آبشار اتمی باشد. برخی هستند که به عمد آن را مطالعه می کنند - به عنوان مثال ما آنها را آبشار می نامیم - و برخی دیگر که فکر می کنند سایر ویژگی های اتم های عجیب و غریب را بررسی می کنند (مانند جذب کولن، انتقال ذرات، همجوشی کاتالیزور میون، اثرات شیمیایی، خواص اساسی و غیره) -کاربران- در حالی که آنها در واقع برخی از پیامدهای خاص همان آبشار اتمی را مطالعه می کنند. ما تصمیم گرفتیم که آبشارها و کاربران در مورد مشکلات اتم های عجیب و غریب در اریس فوق العاده، در دوره پنجم مدرسه بین المللی فیزیک اتم های عجیب و غریب بحث کنند. کارگاه ما کاملاً موفق بود، ما صحبت‌های بسیار خوبی از شرکت‌کنندگان از ده‌ها کشور شنیده‌ایم و اکثر آنها مشارکت‌های کتبی را برای این جلد آماده کرده‌اند. سازمان‌دهندگان از همه شرکت‌کنندگان به‌خاطر کمک‌هایشان تشکر می‌کنند، به‌ویژه از دیوید میزدی برای اظهارات پایانی (در اینجا چاپ نشده) و از جیمز کوهن برای پرش به جای لئونید پونومارف که مجبور شد به‌طور غیرمنتظره‌ای در اواسط جلسه را ترک کند. ما از کمک مشتاقانه ماریان سیگنر در هر مرحله از کار سازمانی بسیار قدردانی می کنیم. البته، کارگاه بدون سازماندهی فوق العاده کارآمد توسط مرکز فرهنگ علمی Ettore Majorana به هیچ وجه نمی تواند اتفاق بیفتد. This Workshop was organized to bring once more tagether the scientists of the rather heterogeneaus field of exotic atoms. At present the main topic of the field seems to be the study of the atomic cascade. There are some who study it intentionally -Iet us call them cascadeurs -and others who think they investigate other features of the exotic atoms (like Coulomb capture, particle transfer, muon catalyzed fusion, chemical effects, fundamental properties, etc.) -users-while in fact they study some special consequences of the same atomic cascade. We decided to get cascadeurs and users discuss the problems of exotic atoms at wonderful Erice, at the 5th Course of the International School of Physics of Exotic Atoms. Our Workshop was quite successful, we have heard excellent talks from participants from a dozen countfies and most of them have prepared written contributions for this volume. The Organizers express their gratitude to all participants for their contributions, especially to David Measday for bis concluding remarks (not printed here) and to James Cohen for jumping in for Leonid Ponomarev who had to leave unexpectedly in the middle of the meeting.
